With the Fall semester winding down and finals coming up, here is a quick recap of the community events that happened in November from the Service-Learning Street Team!
Camp Harbor View Citython 5K – November 17th, 2018
This event took participants through the iconic Boston neighborhoods of Back Bay and Kenmore along Commonwealth Avenue. Camp Harbor View’s mission is to “Uncover dreams, nurture vision and launch aspirations that change lives and transform communities.” The organization, a community partner of S-L, works to help under-served youth by exposing them to new possibilities.

Ikeda Center’s 14th Annual Ikeda Forum- November 30th, 2018
On November 30th, The Ikeda Center for Peace, Learning, and Dialogue hosted their 14th Annual Ikeda Forum. This event featured discussions on human rights, dignity, and justice. Speakers included: Catia Confortini, an Associate Professor at Wellesley College, and Elora Chowdhury, Professor & Chair at the University of Massachussetts.
The Center’s mission is “To build cultures of peace and to show the human potential for good through learning and dialogue, as well as through events and books.” This forum covered topics such as “pledging to show respect and give dignity to whoever [you] encounter” and to “monitor[ing] [your] own judgements, assumptions and prejudices about [your] fellow human beings.”
