Massachusetts Historical Society’s Challenging Assumptions in Telling Underrepresented History
What? Too often public history organizations have believed that there were not enough records to give voice to enslaved people and other underrepresented voices from America’s past. This program from the Massachusetts Historical Society will feature three projects at historical organizations that have been able to tell the stories of enslaved people. Helina Metaferia: Generations
What? This exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts takes a look into how our past dictates how we see the world today. This exhibit uses different forms of art and media to feature primarily women of color to see how history influences today. The art and videos present in this exhibit work together to show the ways elders have pushed women of color to be the women they are today, and how their relationships continue to grow in present times. This exhibition is part of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University’s 2021 Traveling Fellow exhibition program, presented in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Jazz Scene in Boston: Telling the Local Story
What? This exhibit at the Museum of African American History highlights Boston’s jazz history. Jazz started becoming more well-known in Boston in the 1950s, and has continued to stay popular today. This dynamic exhibit uses different types of media to paint a picture of what Boston was like in the 1940s to 1980s. If you enjoy music and history, then this exhibit is perfect for you!

Immersive Frida at Lighthouse ArtSpace at the Castle
