Fiestas de la Calle en Boston

What?

An afternoon full of Puerto Rican food, drinks, art and music with part of the funds supporting earthquake relief efforts on the island.

Puerto Rico’s largest and most concurred festival, the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián, is the unofficial closing to the longest holiday season in the world.

Lunar New Year Parade

What?

Celebrate the Year of the Rat in Boston’s Chinatown with the annual Lunar New Year Parade! On this Sunday, Boston’s Chinatown will host the biggest Lunar New Year parade in New England with troupes of colorful lion dance dancers ringing in the Year of the Rat.

Drop in to the Pao Arts Center for activities including:

  • Chinese and English calligraphy demonstrations with Rayna Lo
  • Art making with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
  • Storytelling activities with Company One Theatre
  • Activities with Families with Children from China
  • Dumpling making

I Heart Science: A Museum Festival for All Ages

What?

Awaken your love of science with activities led by Harvard scientists, graduate students, and enthusiastic explorers. Meet scientists who investigate fossils, microbes, and carnivorous plants. Hear short talks on current research at Harvard. Explore fermenting microbes in action as they perform in a musical art  installation! Bring your own collections to show to local shell and minerals clubs. This program has something for everyone and is appropriate for children and adults of all ages.

Crashfest

What?

Interested in music? Come celebrate a global music festival inside The House of Blues! For almost 30 years, Global Arts Live has been sharing international music, contemporary dance, and jazz from around the world. In Boston, Global Arts Live has introduced more than 800 artists from over 70 countries in more than 1,500 performances to over 1 million people! This nonprofit organization strives to share media from around the world, “transcending borders, cultivating community, and enriching lives”.

The Coming: Black History Month Celebration

What?

Celebrate Black History Month with a musical narrative following the journey of how the first Africans arrived 400 years ago. Through a combination of literature by Dr. Daniel Black, “The Coming” and music from Tia Fuller’s “Diamond Cut” a story is portrayed. This event will pay respect to the many cultures of Africa and the development of African-American music.

Vinfen’s 13th Annual Moving Images Film Festival: Without Judgment

What?

Vinfen will hold our 13th Annual Moving Images Film Festival, Without Judgment, exploring the lives of people with psychiatric conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and behavioral health challenges through five powerful and touching films: The Public, This Is My Brave, Living With High-Functioning Anxiety, I Am Not A Monster: Schizophrenia, and INTELLIGENT LIVES.

Films will be followed by three inspiring panel discussions featuring Stars of the film This Is My Brave Jennifer Marshall, Jason Wright, Kasey Maher, and Nneka Hall; Star of the film I Am Not A Monster: Schizophrenia Cecilia McGough; Star of the film INTELLIGENT LIVES Micah Fialka-Feldman; and Special Guest Emma Fialka-Feldman, a Boston Public Schools Elementary Educator and Micah’s sister.

CART Interpreter Services will be provided for panel discussions. Lunch will be served and parking at the venue is complimentary.
