Role within Service-Learning: S-L Advisory Board Member
How are your values expressed through your community engagement and Service-Learning work?
Northeastern offers amazing experiential opportunities to students to expand their knowledge and stretch their capabilities. Co-op, which is the smaller ecosystem I work in, and service learning are directly related especially in the global plateau. My personal commitment to develop exciting and sustainable connections within global communities hopefully serves as an expression of either learning model.
Did you find Service-Learning or did Service-Learning find you?
Service Learning found me. I received an invitation from Becca Berkey to join the S-Lab Advisory Board.
What is your favorite memory of Service-Learning?
I appreciate the S-Lab quarterly meeting as a forum to exchange good news about student accomplishments and learn from one another. Our smaller group recently organized the Scholar-in -Residence visit of Dr. Timothy Eatman, which most certainly stands out due to its content, energy and outcomes.
If Service-Learning were a food, what would it be and why?
It would be mint, the herb. It grows everywhere, all people love it for its great smell and taste and it is often given as a gift. Seems like a good metaphor for service learning.
