How are your values expressed through your community engagement and Service-Learning work?
I love that the Service-Learning office is continually asking if we are engaging in ethical ways with the students and the community! As a co-op faculty member (that helps the CCS find co-ops), I know all of the co-ops are learning so much and helping the student body become agents of positive social change.
What is one thing everyone should know about Service-Learning?
The staff, students, and faculty involved are the best and care SO much about every stakeholder and the end result/s being positive.
Did you find Service-Learning or did Service-Learning find you?
I guess it found me. I have been helping the Center of Community Service hire co-ops since 2003. They have hired many of my students and some of my alums. The power of the mission, energy, office, etc. is evident and transformative!
If Service-Learning were a food, what would it be and why?
A buffet – something for everyone, plentiful, healthy, and an equalizer (open to all)!
