Empowered 002: A Night of Poetry
What? In support of Girls’ LEAP, an organization that aims to end cycles of violence by teaching girls they have the right to be safe and defend themselves if needed, Empowered is an 18+ open mic night aiming “to bring people together and provide a sense of community in a world that seeks to divide”. In addition, a few speakers (Rebecca Lynn, George Abraham, and Miette Hope Goldman) will be featured. Stories to Scenes
What? Comedy group Improv Jones Boston and storytelling collective MassMouth collaborate monthly to create an improv show based on real-life tales of humor, tragedy and more. With the goal of proving that fact can be stranger than fiction, each show is filled with humor as stories are told and new scenes are created spontaneously. Can’t go in February? Don’t worry! Shows happen the third Saturday of every month.

Movie Screening: The Book of Negroes
What? In honor of Black History Month, the Loring Greenough House is holding a two-day screening of The Book of Negros. The Book of Negros is a six-part miniseries of the untold stories of Black Loyalists in the American Revolution. The screening will take place on two consecutive days, viewing three 1-hour episodes each day.
